‘The Dragon Prince’ Season 4: Everything We Know So Far
The Dragon Prince returns for a season 4, but not only that, also returns during seasons 5, 6 and 7 which will complete what is called the saga of Prince Dragon. We have now spent two years since Book 3 was released on Netflix and came over two years since the renewal news, so where is season 4 of the Dragon Prince? Here is what we know in May 2022.
The Dragon Prince is an original fantastic animated series from Netflix, created for Netflix by Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond. It is not surprising how popular Prince Dragon became, with the former editor -in -chief of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aaron Ehasz at the helm. With a video game also in development, the Dragon Prince has easily become one of the most successful animated franchises of Netflix Raming Up Awards such as an Emmy to be an animated program for exceptional children.
But what about season 4 of the Dragon Prince? Before digging into the weeds of production and what to expect, we wanted to approach the Geeked Week of Netflix which should participate between June 6 and 10.We do not know exactly what comes with regard to the Dragon Prince, but we can expect what happens day 3 (June 8) when they explore “animation”.The Dragon Prince was confirmed to be part of Netflix Geeked week at brand 1:25 on the trailer. Once we have news, we will be sure to update this post.
The Dragon Prince Netflix Renewal Status
Official renewal status: renewed in July 2020
After more than 6 months of waiting, a renewal finally arrived at Comic-Con at 2020 (which at the time was carried out from a distance via Zoom-see below) that the future of Prince Dragon is safe with The creators authorized to see through their vision until season 7.A huge order of animation episodes is not exactly unprecedented, but in this case, is a huge approval of the program performance on the streamer and what will happen.
Each of the new seasons will include 9 episodes, which means that when the show ends, there will be 63 episodes of Prince Dragon in total. The only possible reason why the series could not be renewed (apart from the problems of usual cost and low figures) is due to the allegations that have been made against the creator of the Aaron Ehasz series. Although the truth is still in light, the allegations formulated are that the creator of Prince Dragon, Aaron Ehasz, has created an “abusive environment for women”. All allegations must be taken seriously, and although this can affect the future of the series, no project is worth only any employee who must suffer from it.
Where is The Dragon Prince Season 4 in Production and when will it be on Netflix?
Given the time that has passed since season 3 of the Dragon Prince, you may be wondering what is going on exactly with the Netflix show. The first recognition of the frustration of communities concerning updates came in February 2021. In an article, they said: “Our team has worked hard since the complete saga was green to bring you the next phase of Prince Dragon carefully , passion and creativity. Although the pandemic has had an impact on the process at all levels, the reality is that the productions of this scale always take a long time. We write history and scripts, assemble the production team and develop other fascinating areas of Xadia to explore. Although we cannot give you an appointment for season 4 at this stage, we want you to know that the new seasons will be worth! “”
Just to add an additional context to that. Netflix generally commands initial orders for animated series in advance. This is the case for all DreamWork outputs on Netflix with titles that often get two -digit episode orders. The reason why this is so different from live action is that, as suggested, the production is incredibly different on animated titles. An additional update then occurred in December 2021 (among other announcements) where season 4 was discussed in length.
They revealed how the seasons 4 to 6 were going to be a new “phase” of the Dragon Prince saga, season 7 also being separated. They plunge into the complexities of building a series like this and compared the development cycle to 3 years to obtain 1-3 seasons outside the door. The state “We now follow the same development model for seasons 4, 5 and 6 – which we launched as soon as the series was renewed in 2020 – and have a similar time in advance to make sure that we get The History Arc for phase 2 just. »»Could this mean with the same model as we are not due to the first set of episodes until 2023? This certainly implies that. They continue to add that season 4 is in full production by adding:
“At this point, the scripts of the nine episodes have been written, we have recorded all season with our incredible vocal actors, our storyboards and our animatics are over, and we are now fully animating each episode with our partners in Bardel Entertainment. This last stage of development often takes the longest because it includes a variety of additional steps such as modeling, lighting, rendering, composition, special effects, sound design and publishing. We still have a lot of work before season 4 is finished – so it is a little too early to share an release date for the moment, but we are currently trying to wrap time at the end of 2022 at the earliest. “”
