Ukraine Summons Canada Envoy Over “Unacceptable” Turbine Return
President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that Ukraine called the Canadian Ambassador to Ottawa’s decision to return to the German gas turbine needed to maintain the Nord Stream 1 pipe.”The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must call the Canadian envoy to our country because of the correct exception -unacceptable for the sanctions against Russia,” Zelensky said in his daily speech about Telegram.
Zelensky said the decision “would be considered in Moscow exclusively as a manifestation of weaknesses”.”There is no doubt that Russia will try not only to limit as much as possible, but also to fully stop gas supply to Europe at the most acute time,” he added.During the weekend, Canada agreed to send to the German turbine needed to maintain the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline, although there were sanctions against Russia and appeal from Ukraine.
The turbine is undergoing maintenance on the Canadian site owned by the German industry giant Siemens, and Russia blames its absence of slaughtering delivery through pipes. On Monday, Russian energy giant Gazprom started 10 days of maintenance in the Nord Stream 1 pipe – with Germany and other European countries anxiously to see if the gas returned.
