Italian Leader Running For PM Tweets Video Of Ukranian Woman Being Raped
Twitter deleted on Tuesday a video of a Ukraine woman raped by a migrant in the city of Italy posted by Giorgia Meloni’s right wing leader, who led the race to become the next Italian prime minister. Meloni Tweeted Video Running, which was originally published on the newspaper website, on Sunday, said he could not be silent in the face of “episode of this terrible sexual violence”.
The post was widely condemned by Meloni’s political rivals and human rights activists, who accused him of increasing the misery of the victim by issuing a video without his consent. On Tuesday morning, the post was deleted and replaced with comments from Twitter. “This tweet violates Twitter rules.”
There is no direct response from Meloni. On Monday, Meloni said on Twitter that he had published a video “to express solidarity with victims, to condemn what happened and was clear to demand justice”. The local authorities in the northern city of Piacenza said the 55 -year -old Ukraine woman was attacked on the sidewalk on the early Sunday by asylum seekers from Guinea. The police have confirmed his arrest and said the man was detained when the investigation continued.
The incident was recorded by someone on a flat facing the road. Images posted online blurred, so it is impossible to identify victims, but crying can be clearly heard in the audio. Italian authorities said they were looking for how the video was released. “The spread in the video media depicting a criminal episode is being investigated thoroughly,” said Prosecutor Piacenza, Grazia Pradella. State supervisors assigned to protect personal data say they also look into “the possibility of responsibilities from people who, for various reasons and for different purposes, have (posted)”.
Meloni and his right ally were at the top of the poll of opinion ahead of the September 25th National Election and were widely expected to win power. Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party is likely to take the most seats in parliament, putting it in the leading position to become the first Italian female prime minister.
