Redmi A1 is the best cheap smartphone launched in India in a long time
Redmi A1 is the cheapest smartphone from Redmi, and it replaces the Redmi Go Android Go smartphone. Redmi A1 comes for Rs. 6,499, making it the cheapest smartphone in Xiaomi portfolio. Such a brand smartphone like Redmi quickly makes it one of the best cheap market smartphones.
Redmi A1: Pricing and availability
Redmi A1 is available in a single variant of 2 GB of RAM and internal storage of 32 GB. And it will be sold on Amazon (open in New Tab), Mi.com (open in New Tab), Mi Home, Mi Studio and other points of sale on September 9 at 4 p.m.
The phone is available in three colors: black, light blue and light green.
Redmi A1: Key features and specifications
Redmi A1 comes with a design language reminiscent of much more expensive phones. It doesn’t look like an ultra-bas budget smartphone. The camera table even looks a bit like Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G. It has an HD + 6.5 -inch LCD screen at the front, which has a waterfall notch. Mediatek Helio A22 SOC feeds the phone. It is one of the least low chipsets of the family of Mediatek Helio chipsets, but it is with regard to the budget. And no one expects to play AAA games with phones on this budget.
It comes with a double camera configuration of a double 8MP camera with a secondary depth sensor. And on the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera. The phone is saved by a 5,000 mAh battery and has a 10 W charger in the box.
Is this the best ultra-low-budget smartphone?
It’s been a while since we saw a brand of consumer smartphone launching a phone in the segment. It is a segment dominated by Infinix, Itel, Tecno and more. And this Redmi smartphone is delivered with an Android clean instead of Xiaomi’s usual skinny skin. It is still Android Go, but it is based on the Android 12 publishing of Go. And this is the only phone in India to come with an Android 12 GB OS. The main competitor of this phone is Infinix Smart HD, which is the same price as this phone to Rs. 6,499. And the Redmi A1 phone offers better specifications than that, with A1 with Mediatek Helio A22. On the other hand, Infinix Smart HD is delivered with Mediatek Helio A22, an even lower chipset in terms of performance compared to that of Redmi A1.
Redmi A1 is a breath of fresh air in this ultra-basic segment on a budget and is one of the smartphones, if not the best, of this segment.
